What is a Burn Unit RN?

Are you an experienced RN with a passion for providing specialized care to patients with burn injuries? As a Travel Burn Unit RN, you will have the opportunity to work in various healthcare facilities, delivering comprehensive care to patients in burn units. This role requires an RN who is compassionate, skilled in wound care, and capable of handling complex medical situations.

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN, hold an active RN license in good standing, and possess certifications such as BLS and ACLS. Additionally, experience in burn unit nursing and certifications such as CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) are highly desired.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing and managing patients with burn injuries, including evaluation of burn depth and extent
  • Providing wound care and dressing changes for burn wounds
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed, including pain management
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Monitoring patients’ vital signs, fluid status, and response to treatments
  • Assisting in surgical procedures such as debridement and skin grafting
  • Documenting patient information accurately and maintaining medical records
  • Educating patients and their families on burn care, wound healing, and prevention of complications
  • Participating in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals.
