What is a Cardiovascular ICU RN?

Are you a registered nurse with a passion for helping critically ill patients with heart and cardiovascular conditions? As a Travel Cardiovascular ICU RN, you will have the opportunity to bring your expertise to a variety of settings, making a positive impact on patients’ lives. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in fast-paced and dynamic environments, has strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and can adapt to changing situations with ease.

To be eligible for this position, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiovascular ICU setting, hold an active RN license in good standing, and have certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and others as required by the facility. ICU nursing experience and certifications such as the CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) are preferred.

As a Travel Cardiovascular ICU RN, your responsibilities will include:

Providing life-saving care to critically ill patients with heart and cardiovascular conditions
Assisting physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to the heart and cardiovascular system
Administering medications and continuously monitoring patients during procedures
Documenting patient information and updating medical records
Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Participating in quality improvement initiatives
Offering education and support to patients and their families

Common Cardiovascular ICU Procedures:

Coronary angiography
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
Electrophysiology studies (EPS)
Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) placement
Pacemaker implantation
Ablation procedures for arrhythmias
Mechanical circulatory support (e.g. ventricular assist device (VAD), intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP))
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
