What is an Operating Room RN?

Are you a skilled Operating Room RN with a passion for cardiovascular surgeries? As a Travel Cardiovascular Operating Room RN, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of healthcare facilities, providing specialized care to patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures. This role requires an RN who is experienced in the operating room, has strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and can adapt to the demands of cardiovascular surgeries.

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an Operating Room RN, hold an active RN license in good standing, and possess certifications such as BLS and ACLS. Additionally, experience in cardiovascular surgeries and certifications such as CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) are highly desired.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the surgical team in cardiovascular procedures, including open-heart surgeries, valve replacements, and bypass grafts
  • Preparing the operating room, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready for use
  • Sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments and maintaining a sterile environment
  • Monitoring patients’ vital signs during surgery and providing immediate assistance as needed
  • Administering medications and fluids as directed by the surgeon
  • Documenting patient information accurately and maintaining surgical records
  • Collaborating with the surgical team to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and staying updated with advancements in cardiovascular surgical techniques.

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Valve repair or replacement surgeries
  • Aneurysm repair
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
